What Is Vivepulso? The Story Behind the Brand
I grew up in Costa Rica — gay, Jewish, always a little between worlds. My family wasn't the type to sit around the dinner table sharing feelings. So sex? Pleasure? What happens with your body when nobody's watching? That was never going to be a conversation.
And it wasn't just my house. It was everywhere — school, friends, synagogue, the culture itself. The message was clear without anyone saying a word: pleasure is private. Private to the point of secret. Secret to the point of shame.
This is the story of Vivepulso. It's not the story of a company that found a "market niche." It's the story of a silence I got tired of hearing.
The silence no one names
That silence isn't innocent. That silence has consequences. People who don't know what's normal. Couples who don't know how to ask for what they need. People buying products made of unsafe materials because no one explained the difference. And an entire LGBTQ+ community that grew up without ever seeing their pleasure reflected anywhere.
The sign on the highway
I moved to Canada and spent 7+ years working in social impact and wellness organizations. I led a Pride organization through a financial crisis. I built national communication and education programs in workplace wellness — at an organization that helped people talk about mental health, addiction, grief — the conversations people avoid.
That work taught me something fundamental: the gap between what people need to hear about their health and what anyone is willing to say out loud is enormous. And nowhere is that gap wider than in sexual wellness.
But the idea for Vivepulso didn't come from a strategy deck. It came from a drive through Escazú.
I was visiting family in Costa Rica and kept passing signs for the Sexx Shop — the kind of place with blacked-out windows and a vaguely embarrassing logo. And something clicked. There are five million Ticos. Some significant portion of them are having sex. Of those, how many are using products to enhance their experience? How many would but aren't — because there's no brand that feels safe, thoughtful, and fun to buy from? And how many people are having sex but never talking about pleasure — about what actually makes them feel good, alone or with someone?
The answer to all of those questions was: a lot of people. And nobody was serving them.
Not with education. Not with quality products. Not in Spanish. Not with any acknowledgment that LGBTQ+ people exist.
The question that started everything
What if there were a sexual wellness brand created in and for Latin America? Not a generic online toy shop. Not a blog with surface-level tips. A real brand — with evidence-based education, products curated for quality and safety, and a community where curiosity is celebrated rather than judged.
What if it were LGBTQ+-inclusive not as a marketing gesture, but as part of its DNA?
That question became Vivepulso.
What Vivepulso is (and what it isn't)
Vivepulso is a sexual wellness brand. Not a sex toy shop. Not a clinic. Not an Instagram influencer with unfounded advice.
We are three things:
- Education: Virtual and in-person workshops grounded in published research and designed for review by licensed sex therapists. From free 30-minute sessions to intensive 4-week series. You can attend with your camera off.
- Curated products: Intimate wellness tools selected for quality, body-safe materials, and design. Everything with 100% discreet delivery.
- Community: A space where talking about pleasure doesn't require lowering your voice. Evidence-based content, honest conversations, and a place where curiosity is welcome.
I'm not a therapist — and Vivepulso doesn't pretend to be one. But every piece of content is grounded in published research, and I'm actively building partnerships with licensed sex therapists to review and collaborate on our workshop curriculum. Clinical credibility isn't a nice-to-have for this brand. It's foundational. Check out our guide on orgasm myths or our complete guide to sexual health for gay men to see what that looks like in practice.
Why "Vivepulso"?
Pulso means pulse — rhythm. It's what beats when you're alive. It's desire, energy, connection to your body. It's what you feel when you reconnect with something that was always there but no one ever gave you permission to name.
Vive tu pulso — live your pulse — is an invitation. Not an instruction.
Who this is for
Vivepulso is for every body. Literally. If you ever felt that sex education left you with more questions than answers — this is for you. If you ever searched for information in Spanish about pleasure and only found clinical pages or sketchy sites — this is for you. If you're queer and never saw your experience reflected in a wellness brand — especially this is for you.
But it's also for the 45-year-old woman rediscovering herself after a divorce. For the couple who wants to improve their intimate communication. For the person who simply wants to know if what they feel is "normal" (spoiler: probably yes).
What's coming
In May we're launching our first free workshop: Let's Talk About Pleasure. A shame-free introduction to sexual wellness. Save your spot here. Products arrive in September.
But the real launch already happened. It happened when I decided that silence was no longer an option. And it's happening right now, as you read this.
Welcome to Vivepulso. Vive tu pulso.
